- Outcome: Always be clear on the learning outcome. What are you trying to teach? Does the activity fit the goal?
- Preparation: When preparing, consider the following questions.
- What are the space requirements and ideal group size?
- Is this activity best done indoors or outdoors?
- What props, materials, etc. are needed to run this activity?
- Will the large group need to be broken into smaller numbers?
- Do you fully understand the activity and have your practiced your delivery beforehand?
- Is it 100% safe?
- Set-Up:
- Be clear with your directions. Make sure participants understand what to do.
- Be sure participants have their needed materials before you begin.
- Ask the group what questions they might have.
- Once the group is participating, carefully watch their actions, comments, etc. You might want to weave those points into your debrief.
- Debrief: This is where the learning happens. The more in-depth questions you ask, the deeper the learning. Help guide participants to connect what they experienced in the activity to the learning outcomes. You can use the suggested debrief questions and create your own.
